About homeopathy
Homeopathy is a treatment method developed more than 200 years ago by a German doctor called Samuel Hahnemann.
Initially appearing in Germany, it quickly migrated to other countries such as France, England and the USA.
Nowadays, it is the 2nd most used form of treatment worldwide, after conventional medicine.
It is estimated that 300 million people use homeopathy. It is part of the National Health System in several countries, such as Switzerland, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Pakistan and India.
In addition to treating people, it is increasingly used in companion animals and production animals. It is also used on plants and is therefore a great tool in organic farming.
The Medicines
The raw materials for the production of these medicines are very varied, such as plant extracts, minerals, metals or even poisons or bacteria and viruses.

Homeopathy is not yet a widely used area in Portugal and therefore many people still do not know about it or associate it with other therapies.
There is a vast collection of information about the development of homeopathic medicines and what they managed to treat over more than 200 years – the Materia Medica.
Nowadays, several teams of scientists are researching and trying to discover how homeopathic medicines maintain their therapeutic capacity and how they act in the body.
